From the way people drive around here you would think they were unaware of the reasoning of having school zones.  School zones were created with the safety of children in mind.  They were established to keep cars from speeding in school zones where it is important to pay EXTRA attention to surrounding of children walking.  Some people tend to think that the little yellow light flashing on a road sign stating "20mph" means to go 50mph.  This is more so around the elementary schools.  There are small children walking to school, and you have people driving like bats out of hell to get through there. What kind of examples does that set let alone what about the safety of the children?
Parents too often do not think of what kind of examples they are setting for these young minds.  Children are like sponges, they soak up all the information around them.  There are parents walking in front of moving traffic, with small child in hand, to go through the parking lot to walk them into school.  They do not bother to look both ways, and they just go while the traffic is visibly moving.  Is common sense out the door these days?  Sure, go get yourself ran over idiot, but do not take your innocent child down with you.
We can not expect our children to grow up respectful, truthful, and have any spec of common sense if we do not show them what it is like to have those things in the first place.  It is our jobs as the adults (parents) to provide that education to our children.  And we wonder why crime is at such a high rate? Parents putting their children in daycare, without having a job.  Parents not setting rules for their children, placing blame on others instead of placing blame where it belongs.
This is our future people! Children are our future! Time to take it seriously!

Utterly Confused
The title of this post says it all.  I am utterly confused as in how this site works.  I have had it opened for some time, yet have just recently decided to utilize it after seeing a family member make some posts.  This definitely seems interesting.  So, lets see, it's a blog so I will start off by introducing myself.
My name is Shaylene.  I love writing, reading, and all that fun jaz.  Dancing and music is a big part of my life.  I know how to play the piano, and the french horn.  This is something that not too many people know about me.  My husband has just recently found this out about me.  The piano is one beautiful instrument.  I can not even begin to describe how soothing it is to sit and play the piano, and listen.  I love poetry. This is also something unknown to most, but I used to write a great deal of poems from the time I was 10 years old on up until about my 20's.  I stopped then not really knowing why, but I stopped.
Let me explain why I say that music is a big part of my life.  When I find myself in a 'funk' or  even a great mood, music seems to be my way of expression.  You can always tell what mood I am in by what music I am listening to.  Unlike most, I actually enjoy the lyrics of a song.  I pay more attention to that then just the beat.  A huge pet-peeve is when someone uses a song out of context.  You know, trying to say a song means something and it means nothing like they are perceiving it to be.  Example: dedicating a song to another female about how you are better than they are, but it is actually a song saying that they are better than the man they are with. Makes no sense at all to me.
Now that I have gotten off course a bit I think I should just cut this short for tonight.  I am pretty tired, and starting to rant a bit =]. Goodnight all and to all good night.
